Mon Cush's birthday blog - brace yourselves - it's going to make you smile so hard it'll hurt your face.

Last week, I got to meet a fresh and delicious little newborn out near Dolgelly Road at ‘’Avymore’’ – and get this: his name? Rueben James. Now how epic is that?

So, it was several years ago that a beautiful connection with the Carrigan family happened, when I photographed Tia and Alex C. getting married. And, from here, I would get to meet the gorgeous Monique (Mon) who was a bridesmaid, and who’d married Tom Cush. (You know how it goes!)

I adored Mon on sight. We ‘talk’ here and there via the magical interweb and have been hoping for an age to hang out.

Anyhow, last week I decided I needed to head to Goondi for some badly needed family / Aunty / sibling time, and it turns out Mon’s birthday was last week…. and, well, the rest is history.

I was ecstatic that I could work this shoot in with my trip, as this family is everything I love dearly. All of the Cush’s are adorable, affectionate, warm and lovely – and (YAY) there are loads of fur-kids, smiles, and big skies.

You’ll meet Evelyn Jane, Andrea (Andie) Robyn, and Reuben James in this blog. And of course, the most effortlessly elegant and gracious woman you ever did meet, miss Mon.

Cameos appear thanks to Mon’s Mum, Andrea; Jimbo (Granddaddio) Cush, and a brave Tom will also feature. Actually, the totally random shots of Jimbo are some of my favourite. Which is excellent, because Mon & Tom said they’ve got some ‘Jim shaped spots on the fridge’ that needed to be filled.

We certainly smashed that off the to-do list!

If you’re new to my stuff, basically, it’s all about capturing and documenting a typical day in the lives of a family. It’s all about spontaneous moments, and real life, as it happens … so take the time to absorb each image, because they’re all worth a study. Each tells a gorgeous story.

HAPPY HAPPY birthday to you, Mon. I am so happy with this story of your day.

You’re an exceptionally beautiful person and Mum.

Shan xx
