Soft light & big skies with The Bakers + 1 (Welcome, Banjo!)

One of my favourite places for sunsets, landscapes, and soft light is the farming country around Gunnedah. With mountain backdrops and the big skies and big plains, it’s like you have this delicious mix of the best our north west offers.

And heck, it sure doesn’t hurt to work with such a lovely family, either…. !

If you haven’t met these legends, I would love to introduce to you The Bakers: otherwise known as Glen, Hannah, Daisy and their newest addition: Banjo.

Anybody who knows my work will immediately see that yet again I have been blessed with my absolute dream family in every single way with these guys. They are a just total champions – warm, friendly, genuine, fun, and soooo laid back it’s gorgeous.

We actually started plotting this when I met Han and Glen at a mate’s wedding. Sneaky, huh?

And guess what else I love so much about this family? They have a BLUE dog. The most gorgeous girl, is Lou-Lou.

Winner-winner-chicken-dinner. Everything was just gloriously up my alley.

I guess it would be safe to say that Daisy Baker (their little two-year-old poppet) was a show-stealer. Holy guacamole. This kid. Outrageously adorable and funny.  And stole my heart when we’d finished up and she says to me on the way back home ‘’will you pweese stay for a sweepover?’’ And you know what … while this happens to me nearly always, I never ever for one moment take how precious that is for granted. Because it makes me feel like a really special human, every time. (Thank you, Daisy poppet xx)

But I was actually there at this particular time because a) hello, cotton and b) they have a fresh new human on the ground! Little Banjo Baker. (Best name, isn’t it.) And yep, you wouldn’t believe it, he didn’t even crack it once. He was just chillin’ too. The whole time.

There are endless favourites in this shoot for me. The light was just so soft and lovely – and between the colours Han wore and the backdrops of their home and their life, it was just DIVINE.

Glen – thank you for being a Gold Star Bloke.  I need you to help me demonstrate to Dads how easy photoshoots can be when you just get amongst it and rock your Blue Steel. But seriously, you’re the best.

And Han: thank you, for being you. For also being the best. And for trusting me with these memories.

I hope we get to hang out heaps in the future and SWAP CLOTHES. Because I think you’re splendid. And so is your wardrobe. And your furniture. You style diva, you. Love it!

Anyhow my love I truly hope you can enjoy these precious first few months with your baby boy.

So without further ado …..

Here it is! The Baker Blog.
